Answers to Common Questions

Q. Is enrollment in L-CIPSSI Schools necessary to purchase a program?

A. No. Curriculum Services provides programs for K-12th grade home schooled students, students enrolled in other private schools, charter school students, and distance education programs. Except for our diploma program there is no benefit to enrolling in our private school outside of Florida so please, save your money. By submitting a “Letter of Intent” you are actually withdrawing your youngster from the public school classroom and enrolling him/her in your state’s Home Education Program which, technically speaking, is also under the authority of the public schools. To enroll in another school is called “duel enrollment”. Only under certain circumstances, such as entrance into vocational/technical school is duel enrollment of benefit. Note: Curriculum Services is not a school but a curriculum provider run by school personnel.

Q. How soon can I get my program (s)?

A. Depending on the time of year, programs can be shipped with-in two hours to two weeks of receiving your order. Keep in mind that August to October are our busiest months so you should not expect immediate shipping during those times. Also, very special needs students can best be served outside of our busy season.

Q. Who can enroll in L-CIPSSI?

A. Enrollment in L-CIPSSI Schools is offered to Florida residents for Kindergarten through 12th grade. At this time cost is $125 per/year for the first student and $75 per/year for each additional student. High school students outside of Florida may also enroll in L-CIPSSI Schools’ “Diploma Program”. There will be some minor extra charges for miscellaneous.

Q. How do I enroll?

A. To enroll follow the instructions on the form on the last page of this catalog and include it with your order. An enrollment pack with formal enrollment papers will be included in your program. Complete the forms as directed and mail using the enclosed pre-addressed envelope. Within the pack is the Student Transfer form that you are to send to the last school your child attended. It will inform them that your youngster is being withdrawn from their school and enrolled in L-CIPSSI.

Q. Must I purchase a program from Curriculum Services to enroll in L-CIPSSI Schools?

A. Yes. To ensure a quality education enrollment in our private school is not offered without the purchase of a grade level program. If you feel an exception is warranted call the non toll free # 1-941-992-6381.

Q. I was told that my curriculum must be approved before I am allowed to homeschool. Is this true?

A. No! Local school officials may inquire about your curriculum but that is as far as they can go. To dictate your choices is a violation of your civil rights. You do not have to follow their “approved list” as some are now being told in some areas. If you are being told this contact your state or local home school support group (a great asset), or the HSLDA for guidance. By submitting to this or other demands not required by law you may be opening the door to on-going constraints.

Q. I am enrolling my youngster in L-CIPSSI Schools. Do I need to submit a Letter of Intent?

(What do I do if I already mailed a Letter of Intent?)

A. First Part - No, not if you are in Florida! Once enrolled in this private school your youngster is a private school student and not in home school. No Letter of Intent to Home School is to be sent to the superintendent! Instead an enrollment pack with enrollment papers will be included in your program with a Student Transfer form that you are to send to the last school your child attended. This will inform them that your youngster is being withdrawn from their school and enrolled in L-CIPSSI Schools.

Second Part - If you have already sent your Letter of Intent you need to send one copy of the Student Transfer form to that address and another copy* to the school your youngster last attended to inform them that you no longer wish to home school your youngster. You have, instead, enrolled him/her in private school. DO NOT use the term “home school”; p. 24!

Q. What about accreditation? Is your school accredited? Is your curriculum accredited?

A. While our school is accredited it is at this time not accredited by one of the four regional associations. However, this is not a cause for concern. Today, there is a great deal of confusion surrounding this subject. Actually accreditation means the most to those with the least understanding of what it is all about. The term is often used to impress or intimidate those new to home and private education. In truth, accreditation does not guarantee quality of education or any assurances what so ever. Neither accreditation nor a diploma is necessary for one to get into college as is shown by home school students being granted entrance into college while still in their mid teens. See our article “For the College Bound”. While many accredited public schools have dismal academic records non accredited schools such as Harvard and Yale have been setting the standard for years.

It is still amazing the wild goose chase parents are sent on as school officials have instructed them to find “accredited curriculum”. While schools can be accredited, curriculum cannot. However curriculum can be approved for school use.
