L-CIPPSI Schools Enrollment Offer   CURRICULUM SERVICES, the mail order division of L-CIPSSI Schools, sells complete curriculum programs through the mail to home educators across the country. L-CIPSSI Schools offers enrollment to K-12 Florida residents and offers enrollment to high school students outside of Florida for the purpose of obtaining a diploma. L-CIPSSI (pronounced el•kip´•see) is an acronym for Lee County Independent Private School System, Inc. a not for profit private school corporation founded in 1982. This private school is registered with the Florida Board of Education. Its primary purpose is to assist parents who choose to educate their children. What does enrollment offer? Florida Students L-CIPSSI is one of many schools throughout Florida and the US offering enrollment to parent educators. Because you need not enroll in L-CIPSSI to purchase our programs many do so while enrolled elsewhere. Florida students in Kindergarten through 12th grade enrolled in our private school do not have to submit to end of the year evaluations such as standardized tests or portfolio reviews like those under the Home Education Program and many other private schools. Instead our parent-educators are required to do three things:  A) to submit an attendance report at the end of each month; Easy to use self-mailers are provided. They are designed to take only a few minutes to fill out and mail or fax. B) to submit a mid-term report. The record keeping materials used are provided and described on page 3 of this catalog. The mid-term report includes: 1) a copy of the report card up to the 18th week of school (the second nine week quarter) 2) a one page course summary for any qualified one semester non text-supported courses you wish to    claim such as typing/keyboarding or public speaking  3) either copies of log book pages or actual log books for qualified non text-supported courses you wish to claim such as PE, LMS, and an auxiliary reading course. If sending original log books we expect a stamped self-addressed return envelope to facilitate a speedy return. C) submit an end-of-the year report; Much like the mid-term report this is sent after the last week of school. By submitting course summaries and log books for high school students, these courses worth ˝ credit per semester, or one credit per year, may facilitate an early graduation. This is a provision not offered in most other schools. In addition these extra credits and courses may prove to be an asset when applying for college. Also note that upon graduation from L-CIPSSI our students receive a high school diploma and not a G.E.D. Students Outside of Florida L-CIPSSI’s Diploma Program offers enrollment to high school students outside of Florida. However, until a student reaches his/her 16th birthday you must show proof of either legal insurance or dual enrollment in your state’s home education program or other private school in your state. This protects the students, you, the parents or  guardians, and L-CIPSSI Schools in the event the local school board challenges your rights which may happen because your board of education may not recognize enrollment in a private school outside your state. Also as a Florida based school we may not be able to come to your rescue in the same manor as the HSLDA, as that is their area of expertise. Just your very membership is usually enough to prevent harassment and violation of your rights.  Because enrollment in a private school alone outside a state’s boundaries is often not recognized there may be no solid benefits for Kindergarten to 8th grade students. For that reason L-CIPSSI Schools does not offer enrollment to students below high school outside of Florida as it serves little more than to drain your pocket-book. Even in states where enrollment is legally recognized it may not be met with approval. Without legal backup you may still be pressured to submit to the standard evaluations expected of home schooled students. Our policy is unwavering as we will not offer enrollment to those who will not benefit from it! Only high school students outside of Florida may enroll so they can earn a diploma from L-CIPSSI rather than to settle for a G.E.D.   Enrollment Enrollment papers with step-by-step instructions will come with your program. Included will be a transfer form for you to mail to the school your youngster last attended. It will inform them that this student is being withdrawn from there and is being enrolled in L-CIPSSI Schools. Teacher’s contracts make your home a school in our school system, you private school teachers, and your youngster (s) becomes your student (s) under law. Do not send a Letter of Intent to Home School because this student is being enrolled in a private school not a home school! It is vital that you at no time make reference to this student being home schooled. This has resulted in students being placed on the home school registry which has often lead to nothing but trouble even though no Letter of Intent was sent. Important Notice: To insure that our student receive a quality education L-CIPSSI Schools only offers enrollment with the purchase of a grade level program from Curriculum Services.
