S.A.C.C.

The SACC Study Method is a trade mark teaching method created by L-CIPSSI Schools and Curriculum Services. Once implemented it proved to produce high academic achievement by nurturing the development of patterns of success. Before a lesson is done the instructor checks the work noting any mistakes. The student is helped to discover why they were made and make corrections resulting in complete mastery of that day’s work. We see when students end each day with complete understanding of all the concepts presented they naturally reap the highest possible academic results. Daily work is not graded as grading is reserved only for tests.

Ideally, it is the teacher’s responsibility to check, oversee corrections, and confirm the completion of student’s work. However, if an older student remains under a watchful eye, parents may delegate this work to them.

Students learning under SACC develop superior study habits and a healthy self-esteem. This also prevents gaps from developing, which is a primary cause of student underachievement. SACC is also the easiest way to teach. It’s simplicity divides the school day into four basics parts: Study, Answer or Apply, Check, Correct or Complete.

When finished mark or initial the papers in your Daily Plan Book or schedule. Again, you do not grade daily work, you SACC it. Grading is reserved only for tests.

On Handwriting

Handwriting texts come standard in our K-3rd grade programs and are offered under Optional for 4th-6th grades. They can also be special ordered for 7th grade and up. The following three styles of handwriting are available:
1) contemporary manuscript
2) traditional manuscript  3) italic

Contemporary manuscript is our standard and recommended course because it is a more natural handwriting, limits common reversals and the transition to cursive (printing) is almost automatic as the student need learn only a few new manuscript letters plus a few connecting strokes. See the formation of the lower case b’ and ‘d’ at the left. This is a good example of how contemporary manuscript limits common reversals as the ‘d’ is formed like an ‘a’ beginning in the middle while the ‘b’ begins at the top. Later add the connecting strokes and your student is writing in cursive!

Two traditional styles are available for second grade. The standard, 2C teaches manuscript first and
then cursive while 2M covers manuscript alone making it suitable for students not ready for cursive. Note: Special orders for 1st-3rd can be written on the order form.

The difference between the grade level worktexts and the Daily Practice Books is the purpose of the grade level worktext is to teach proper letter formation where as the purpose of the Daily Practice Book is to provide a brief exercise each day to improve handwriting utilizing content area topics as models to copy.
